The Carrapatelo Dam, located in the Parish Hall of the cage, began construction in 1965 and was completed in 1972. It was the first hydroelectric project being built in the national section of the river Douro and is what provides the biggest drop, 36.0 m.It is a type of gravity dam, lightened by a large circular gallery next to the foundation.
The dam has a height of 57 me a crest length of 400 m.
The total area of the basin is 92,050 km ² and extends for 40 km reach at the end of the amount of hydroelectric Ruler. The total volume of 148 million m³ is stored.
