Visit the Old Well of Póvoa de Garção - Ventosa do Bairro

Visit the Ventosa Parish Church of Bairro

The Parish Church of Ventosa do Bairro, as we know it today, was partially destroyed by the earthquake of 1755 and restored in later years until 1972, which is the date still indicated today in its main portico, which also contains, since that time, the following Latin inscription: "PULSATE ET APERIETUR VOBIS" ("Knock and it will open for you"). The height of its steeple was also, by that time, increased by a few more meters, as is easily reached from the vestiges still existing there. In the year of 1928 the church underwent substantial alteration, being added the choir to him. In the late 1940s, it was partially damaged again by a lightning bolt on the tower. In the 1950s, the tower benefited from the installation of a clock.
The church has, in its interior, a pulpit of the century. XVIII, constituted in limestone of relevant sculptural beauty, and a baptismal font of the century. XVI, in Renaissance style, decorated with wreaths, cup and foot. And surrounded by stone slabs where you can already see some corrosive marks of time. The oldest image of the church is undoubtedly that of the Virgin and Child, from the 16th century. XV and that of S. Sebastião, already referenced in a document of 1758, whose feast is held every year on the third Sunday in January.

Visit the Chapel of Santa Luzia - Ventosa do Bairro

The Chapel of Santa Luzia, located in the neighborhood of Ventosa do Bairro, is of the twentieth century and interesting construction due to the placement of the bell tower in a prominent central position on the main facade of the temple.
