Visiting the Mondego Green Park - Almedina (Coimbra)

Mondego Green Park, located in the Parish of Almedina, is large and open access.
The right bank consists of an area of over 400.000m2, basically dedicated to leisure, with a large terrace area, based on a wooden platform over the river. The green zone has four kilometers of pedestrian corridors and the same length of cycle paths.

Doctor Manuel Braga Park, located in the Parish of Almedina, is an emblematic park of the city of Coimbra, with a privileged location by the Mondego River.
It was initially a space belonging to the Benedictine monks, located at the level of the river's waterways, subject to constant flooding. In 1888, the Coimbra City Council bought Ínsua dos Bentos, consisting of orange groves, an open area where horse races were held and a soccer field, where the Academic played. In 1920 it is proposed to transform the old Ínsua dos Bentos into a public garden, being in charge of the project the landscaper from Porto, Jacinto de Matos.
The name of the park was deliberated in order to honor Dr. Manuel Braga, a great driver in the valorization and creation of green spaces in the city, namely the Vale de Canas Forest and the gardens of Av. Sá da Bandeira.

The Castelo Branco Athletics Track, located in the city's Urban Park (leisure zone), is homologated by the Portuguese Athletics Federation and is prepared to receive national and international events.
With eight runners to run, the track has a complete structure that allows you to practice athletics in its various disciplines, including weight throwing, disc and hammer throwing, dart throwing, obstacle course, high jump, stick, long jump and triple jump.
The lane is integrated into the Parque Urbano, in a large complex, which includes soccer fields with synthetic turf, beach pool and indoor pools, a lagoon, a skatepark and maintenance spaces.

The City Park, located in the Feast of Castelo Branco, is a very pleasant green space, inserted in the historical area of the city. With a simple and elegant layout is composed of several trees, lakes, where ducks and swans are found, lawned corridors, ending in a large circular pergola.

The Cruzeiro de São João is located in Castelo Branco parish. It is next to the City Park and Jardim do Paço.
It was erected in the early 16th century before a church with the same denomination, a temple that was demolished in the early twentieth century.
The Cruzeiro is in granite, of vegetalista decoration, presents / displays a Cross of Christ. At the base, octagonal, human figures were carved, chained, in a possible allusion to temptation.
It is classified as a National Monument.

Visit the Lake of the Park of São João da Ponte - São Lázaro (Braga)

The Lake of the Park of St. John of the Bridge, located in the Parish of St. Lazarus, is in the center of this park which is divided into four parts, the outside, the inner part, the Sport Bridge Complex and the Bridge Camping Park. The park is limited to the North by the East River and the Avenue Dr Francisco Pires Gonçalves, to the East and South by the Mount of Picoto and the Avenue of the Stadium, to the West by the Park of Exhibitions of Braga and East River.

The Park was born out of the expropriation in 1911 of Quinta da Mitra, the former palace of the archbishops of Braga.

The outer part of the park, the oldest one, grew around the Chapel of St. John. It is a wooded area with gardens and lakes, has a bandstand, a cruise, a children's park, an open-air auditorium and a monument evocative to 25 April, which celebrates freedom and democracy.

In times past, when the water of the East River was clear, the women of Braga washed their clothes on the bank of the river, where they later extended them on the slope of Mount Picoto.

The interior part is an extension of the exterior, however it is divided from the outside by a railing coming from the old Public Garden that existed in the Central Avenue. This part is characterized by a greater density in vegetation and a large artificial lake.

The old greenhouse, located in this part, was restored and transformed to headquarters of the Municipal Video Library of Braga.

The Urban Park of the River Ul, located in S. João da Madeira, was designed by the architect Sidónio Pardal, and has a total area equivalent to almost 30 football fields, the Urban Park of the Rio Ul is outlined by granite walls. From the inside you can see paths that invite walking or cycling.

Visitors to the Urban Park of the Rio Ul also have at their disposal the House of Nature where there is a bar and a reception room / environmental interpretation center, as well as a space of bathhouses.

The Church of Our Lady of Miracles, located in São João da Madeira, was inaugurated on November 6, 1938, at a ceremony presided over by the Bishop of Porto. It is located in a green space called Nossa Senhora dos Milagres Park, one of the most appreciated urban parks in the city.

It refers to the Neo-Romanesque period, having on its façade an image of Christ crucified in marble. Inside the temple there is a wooden image of Our Lady of Miracles.

The Moinhos de Lograssol Park, located in the Parish of Vacariça, has an area of about 6000 m2, is a leisure area that works as a complement to the existing mills that were abandoned and recovered (although they inactive).

Infante Dom Pedro Park, located in the Town of Glory (Aveiro), started functioning from 1862 from the area that belonged to the Convent of St. Anthony.
