The Peak of Hope is a volcanic mountain located in the parish of Great Northern, reaching an altitude of 1053 meters.
From the top of the volcanic cone may be seen from the island of Faial, Pico Island in the slopes face south and Terceira and Graciosa Island in the north facing slope.

The St. Anthony's Church, located in the Parish of Great Northern, is dated 1931, and has two bell towers.

Visit the Church of Our Lady of the Snows - Great Northern

The Church of Our Lady of the Snows parish located in the Norte Grande was built in 1762 on the ruins of a church before.
This church presents itself endowed with a single body, also with only a chancel tiled. The carving of the chancel is painted blue and gold. In the side chapels are images of Our Lord and Our Lady of Fatima.

The Ribeira Faja da Areia located in the parish of Great Northern, on the north coast of the island of São Jorge.
Faja is a large and a very long time inhabited. In the year 1891 had 451 inhabitants. This as well as some other coves on the island of St. George was practically abandoned, not only due to the earthquake of 1980, but also as a result of an aging population and the disaffection of young people.
Yet many families still live in fajã.
The cultures that make this fajã are sweet potatoes, and potato land, the vineyard and the yam.
