Visit the Ethnographic Center of the Lousa (Castelo Branco)

The building of the Ethnographic Nucleus of Lousa consists of two floors: the lower floor dedicated to the theme of the technological cycle of olive oil and the upper floor dedicated to the Traditional Dances of the Slate.
The Center dedicated to "Dances da Lousa" guides us on a journey through the rich secular traditions of this Parish. In it we can find music, letters, dances recreated in photography and film, costumes, musical instruments, such as genebres, a type of xylophone, an archaic musical instrument used only in the slate.
Although the origin of the "Dances da Lousa" is unknown, every year the people of this parish, during the religious feast of Our Lady of the Heavens, on the 3rd Sunday of May, recreate this ancestral ritual in front of the Mother Church.
The "Dances of the Slate" are composed of three distinct dances: "Dance of the Maidens", "Dance of the Men" and "Dance of the Scissors".

Visit the Chapel of Santa Bárbara - Lousa (Castelo Branco)

The Chapel of Santa Bárbara, located in the Parish of Lousa, was inaugurated in 1952, having been built in the place where the old one existed.
This chapel is composed by an elegant porch, place of the assembly, presbytery and sacristy. From the front, in an elevated position, is a singular cruise.
