Visit Porto Santo

Porto Santo is a municipality that occupies the entire island of Porto Santo, Madeira, based in a village with a different name of the city: the city of Vila Baleira. It has 42.48 km ² and 5,482 inhabitants. You only have a single parish, which has the same name of the municipality.
The island of Porto Santo was discovered in 1418 by João Gonçalves Zarco and Tristan Vaz Teixeira. Columbus inhabited this island.
Although it is located very close to the larger island of Madeira, is very different: its soil is completely sandy and very poor in nutrients, the rainfall is very low compared to Madeira; is extremely flat, has a beautiful sandy beach , 9 miles long, and has lots of palm trees.
