Visit the Church of Our Lady of Purification - Palmeira (Braga)

The Church of Our Lady of Purification, located in the Parish of Palmeira, is a building begun in 1895 but only completed in 1930. Its works are fundamentally the result of the transformation of an eighteenth-century hermitage into a new temple.
The present church is a large temple, of haughty and beautiful moth that privileges the verticality harmonizing with the head where it is implanted. The blue-tiled tile frontage is divided into three sections, ending the central one in an overhead crown, in the shape of a bell tower. In the center, at the top of the door is drawn an arch that surrounds the small stone image of the patroness Our Lady of the Purification. With the same cut, the three stained-bottomed stained glass windows are located in the upper part of the temple, showing the size of the most advanced central. On top of this stained glass is the clock that separates the tower from the rest of the building.
This temple presents the particularity of having inlaid through a project elaborated by the architect Ernst Korrodi in 1929 in its north elevation the front of the previous chapel of baroque typology. This aspect brings us to a fusion of architectural styles so much to the liking of that architect.
