The Church of St. Sebastian, located in the Town of Serra d'El Rei seems to date from the late fourteenth century and beginning of the fifteenth century, because the building is later to the palace. Its construction was very gradual and seems to have lasted until the sixteenth century. D. Peter was the major driver of this construction at the time the settlement grew.
The interior has a great artistic interest, especially because of its walls are lined with blue and white tiles of the sixteenth century, where you can see espisódios portrayed the life of St. Sebastian.
The main altar, where a sculpture of the patron, is giltand there are two side supports which are an image of S. Caetano and one of the Archangel Gabriel.
In the body of the Church there are four altars, two front and two sides. On the right side is an image of Our Lady of Mercy and in front of the same side, the figures of Our Lady of Fatima and the Infant Jesus.On the left side are the statues of St. Anthony, S.Francis of Assisi and a crucified Lord. At front left is an image of St. Anthony.
The church roof is wood and is artistically decorated with five rows of seven panels.
