The Church of St. Matthew's parish of Ribeira has masonry granite staircase, flanked by two crosses to the top. In the main body of the church is engraved the year 1719, referring probably to the date of its reconstruction or transladação since the original was in the place of Young. The interior is ornamented with magnificent carvings and gilded altar, also Johannine, sports figures of seraphim and valuable sculptures.
