Visit the Paiva River in Castelo de Paiva

Watercourse with a distance of 111km and a catchment area of 77km2, the Paiva River is a river which rises in the Portuguese Serra da Nave, in Pêra Velha, in the municipality of Moimenta da Beira and flows into the Douro River, the area riverside Furnace in Castelo de Paiva. The river is the site of spawning trout (Salmo trout). You are currently classified as SIC - Site of Community Importance of Natura 2000. Rio Paiva is one of the best preserved in Europe. Its main tributaries of the Frades River and Paivô River Friars. Local widely used for water sports.
