The Embroidery Interpretation Center, located in the parish of Castelo Branco, aims to contribute to the revaluation, recovery, innovation and re-launching of Castelo Branco Embroidery, a form of artistic expression unique.
The creation of the Interpretation Center resulted from the restoration of an iconographic building of Castelo Branco, Domus Municipalis, old House of the Village, old Chain and, more recently, Municipal Library.
Of recognized beauty and example of originality in the national scope, Embroidery of Castelo Branco presents two dominant characteristics: the artistic origin and the economic meaning. The first shows the existence of an art of its own, with a peculiar style, the second is the concentration of this embroidery industry in the District of Castelo Branco.
The Interpretation Center, in addition to museum space and shop, also hosts the Castelo Branco Embroidery School Workshop, which brings together some of the most suitable embroiderers, craftsmen of the genuine embroidery pieces of Castelo Branco.
The Interpretation Center offers the visitor a space that brings together ancient artifacts and the latest digital / technological supports, in a journey that takes the visitor through the origins of the Embroidery of Castelo Branco, from the sowing of the flax to the weaving, through the creation of the beast of the silk and extraction of the raw material, evolution of embroidery and technique (points), as well as the historical framework and symbology.
