Visit the Church of Santo Andre - Vila Boa Quires

The Church of St. Andrew, located in the Town of Vila Boa Quires, belonged to an ancient monastery. It is a late Romanesque church, built in the first half of the thirteenth century. The main facade features a unique body organized into two records, which adosso of a bell tower on the south side, slightly behind the facade and surmounted by a pyramidal spire. The main portal is a pointed arch with four archivolts on imposed which extend through the wall. The tympanum supported by two consoles in the form of heads of cattle, is flat and has recorded the date of 1881, alluding to the expansion. The capitals of small columns have plant decoration in low relief. The sides have cornice supported by corbels. The south portal is two archivolts the pointed arch, based on the capitals of figurative decoration in high relief. The eardrum is smooth and supported by two consoles representing a bull's head and a lion.
This Church is classified as a National Monument.
