The Aerodrome of Braga, located in the parish of São Pedro de Merelim, emerged through progressive transformations of former fields of crops and bouças and was designated as "Field of Aviation", name by which the current Aerodrome is still recognized.

This airfield was inaugurated the 22 of June of 1929 with the landing of a military aircraft airplane "Junker-F13", piloted by the captain Amado of the Cunha.
