Visit the village of Sintra - Sao Martinho (Sintra)

The town of Sintra, which belongs to the town of Sao Martinho (Sintra), a World Heritage Site by UNESCO because of its romantic architecture of the nineteenth century.

In 1809, Byron wrote to his friend Francis Hodgson, "I just observe that the village of Sintra, Estremadura is the most beautiful in the world."

Visit Quinta da Ribafria - São Martinho (Sintra)

Visit the palace and Regaleira Estate Millions - Sao Martinho (Sintra)

The Regaleira Estate, located in the Parish of Saint Martin (Sintra) in the historical center of Sintra, classified World Heritage by UNESCO, was built in the early twentieth century, the romantic ideal, this fascinating collection of buildings in the middle of forest, is the result of achieving the dreams of its owner, Antonio Augusto Carvalho Monteiro (1848-1920), combined with the talent of the Italian architect-designer Luigi Manini (1848-1936).

The original house of the Quinta da Penha Verde, located in the Parish of St. Martin (Sintra), was built by D. João de Castro. Later, the building was extensively modified and expanded by acquiring the then current appearance.

Thursday's entry is preceded by a single doorway, datable to the late seventeenth century, surmounted by a pediment which overlaps the crest of the Castros.
It has a small garden in the style of the eighteenth century, and before that frames the mansion. This plant has a somewhat irregular, integrating, however, in line with the traditional Portuguese architecture Aulica. The jambs of doors and windows are covered with large and simple stonework. Visit Monserrate Palace - Sao Martinho (Sintra)

The Monserrate Palace, located in the Parish of Saint Martin (Sintra) and inserted into the Monserrate Park was designed by architect James Knowles and built in 1858 by order of Sir Francis Cook, Viscount Monserrate, while production of the gardens was delivered the painter William Stockdale, the botanist William Nevill and James Burt, a master gardener. Visit the National Palace - Sao Martinho (Sintra)

The National Palace of Sintra, located in the Parish of Saint Martin (Sintra), also known as Palácio da Vila.
It was one of the royal palaces and today is owned by the Portuguese State, who uses it for purposes of tourism and culture. Urban deployment, its construction began in the fifteenth century.
Presents characteristics of medieval architecture, Gothic, Manuel I, Renaissance and romantic. The chapel is rectangular and nave, with walls covered by paintings and decorative wood ceiling. In the kitchen are visible from startups monumental octagonal chimneys. Some magazines call Manueline wing spans of bearing moldings and fireplaces in limestone, characterized by relief decoration.
This Palace is classified as a National Monument.

Visit the Palace of Ribafria - Sao Martinho (Sintra)

The Palace of Ribafria, located in the Parish of St. Martin (Sintra), was built in the first half of the sixteenth century, and consists of three bodies arranged in a U.
In the austere facade are noticeable changes caused by various restoration works. Thus, evidence is beyond the Manueline windows, others have pombalino imprint. Access to the courtyard shall beby a gate surrounded by a simple beveled edges.

The Chapel is closed and emptied its entire contents.

Visit the Museum Ferreira de Castro - San Martinho (Sintra)

Ferreira de Castro Museum, located in the Parish of Saint Martin (Sintra), came as a result of the donation made by the writer of his estate to the People of Sintra.
The Museum opened its doors on June 6, 1982. Closed for renovations three years later, would reopen on July 22, 1992, after remodeling of the exhibition contents and preparation of a new visitor's guide.
Ferreira de Castro Museum presents chronologically the existential journey of the writer, grouped into seven themes:
"Childhood" (1898-1911), refers to the writer's childhood in "native village" in the Willows, Ossela parish, municipality of Oliveira de Azemeis, a period of intimate contact with the verdant nature of the region, which would mark both it.
"In Brazil - The Amazon jungle to Belem do Para" (1911-1919), recounts the time when Ferreira de Castro lived as a child and alone in a rubber plantation in the Amazon (until 1914) and experience in dramatic and convoluted Of Bethlehem many objects of interest displayed by highlighting the manuscript for Criminal Ambition, Parintintins masks of the Indians (now extinct tribe) land of the plantation where Castro worked, and for copies of Criminal Greed and Alma Lusitana, both of 1916, the first titles he published.
"The Return - Journalism and work renegade" (1919-1927), shows part of the journalistic activity and displays the books that match the first phase Ferreira de Castro - Mas ... (1921) The Flight in the Dark (1927) - which he removed from his complete works which today are bibliographic rarities.
"Triumph - From Emigrants to the direction of the Devil" (1928-1935), "The Last Wanderer" (Travel, 1929-1939), "The Master - The Storm From the Fragments" (1940-1974) include the time Ferreira de Castro who reigned as the preeminent author of Portugal then. It is the period of The Jungle, Cold Land, Wool and Snow, Curve Road, Mission ...
The Portuguese writer translated most of his time in the last room were exposed to translations of his works in several languages.
