This place has wide views over the valley embedded with that which is often designated as the last Portuguese wild river.

Visit the Penedo das Letras - São Pedro da Oliveira

Penedo das Letras, located in the parish of São Pedro da Oliveira, has inspired legends throughout history. It is said that King Miguel took refuge there from the conflicts with his mother. But, the people always claimed that the king came to the Penedo of the letters to court a girl of the land.

Beside the boulder there is another one with the following inscription: "On December 6, 1832, he came to this place and ascended to these stones His Majesty Lord Michael I"
