The Misericórdia Church, located in the Parish of Castelo Branco, is also known as Santo António Church.
An early church was built in the 18th century. XVI by Simão Silva and together with a house that worked as a hospital constituted the Misericordia.
It is the Johannine baroque that marks the physiognomy of the present building, in the sculptural exuberance of the facade confined to the narrow street in which it is located. In the pediment of the portal we can see the image of Santa Isabel and in the cunhal of the temple a niche guard of Santo António.
In the interior, of single nave, stand out the seiscentistas representations of the Visitation and the Espousals of Santa Isabel with San Zacarias, in the altars of the lateral chapels. The main chapel has a baroque altar with gilded carving and a polychrome wood image of San Francisco. On the painted wooden ceiling, we can see a local work representing the center of Pentecost.
