The Domus Municipalis is located in the parish of Santa Maria, in the city of Bragança. It stands out as the only example of Romanesque civil architecture in the Iberian Peninsula.
It was built in the 12th century. In stone masonry, it presents plant in form an irregular pentagon. It has an underground, which houses a vaulted cistern. It served as a water cistern, but there are doubts as to whether this would have been its original function.
The designation because it is known today (in Latin "Domus Municipalis", in Portuguese language "Municipal House") is due to have been used as Paços do Concelho by the Municipal Administration of Bragança.
It is classified as a National Monument.
