The archaeological site of the Roman Villa of Pisões, located in the Parish of Mombeja, was discovered in 1967, during agricultural works. In 1970 it was classified as Property of Public Interest.
Occupied in the Roman period between the 1st and 4th centuries AD, it is now partly excavated, notably a significant part of the owners' house, featuring more than forty rooms, centered on a peristyle, richly decorated and with mosaics.
Indissociable from the Villa's set of structures is the dam of Pisões, located at about 200m, and whose main purpose would be to supply water for feeding its tanks, swimming pool and thermal baths, of considerable size.
