The College of Nossa Senhora do Carmo, located in the Parish of Almedina, was built in 1541, for the residence of clerics of the diocese of Porto who wished to attend the University. In 1547, it was donated to the Order of Carmelite Footwear and became extinct under the Law of 1834, and passed to the Venerable Third Order of San Francisco, where it is today installed. Although it has undergone several changes, the old college complex retains original tile panels as well as some paintings
